How to generate a Battery Report in Windows

Windows has a built-in battery reporting tool which gives you information about your laptop’s battery, including battery life estimate and battery capacity over time. To generate this battery report, we will use Windows’ command-line tool. We recommend extra care and following the instructions strictly when using such tool. Let's get started!


(1) Right click on the “Windows start menu” icon, then click on “Windows Terminal (Admin). When prompted by User Account Control, click on “Yes” to run the terminal.

(2) Type the following command and hit "Enter":

(3) An HTML file is generated and saved to your C:\ drive. Go to File Explorer, then go to your C:\ drive. Double click on the battery_report.html file to view the report.

(4) There are a lot of things we could take from the battery report. The main attributes to look for are: Design Capacity, Full Charge Capacity and Cycle Count. Battery is a consumable product and does wear overtime, resulting in the reduction of full charge capacity and battery life.
